Survey vital to new base housing support

Schriever’s landscape has changed drastically during the past year as houses on the east side of the base were constructed.

Families will be moving into homes this summer, and to aid the 50th Space Wing and Tierra Vista Communities in determining how families can be supported during the transition, a privatized housing survey is available at http://tinyurl.com/schrieverhousingsurvey.

The survey is meant for current Schriever personnel, and consists of 13 questions. It covers many areas such as family size, rank, reasons for moving into base housing, factors most important to those considering base housing and more.

“This survey will help wing leadership get a better picture of how many people are considering base housing, and what kind of services would benefit the families moving to SAFB,” said Judy Dickson, Schriever Housing Asset Manager.

Base housing will be comparable to off-base housing according to TVC. The homes are all larger than 1,600 square feet. Some of the amenities in each home include a two-car garage, all new appliances, central air conditioning, privacy fence, additional storage area, laundry room, ceiling fans and more.

The neighborhood will also include covered bus shelters, playgrounds, walking trails and a community center with an indoor heated swimming pool.

The housing office, temporarily located in Building T-65, will move into the new community center upon completion, which is scheduled for November 2009.

“Completion of this survey is vital in determining the housing and community needs at Schriever,” said Ms. Dickson. “We appreciate the cooperation and assistance from everyone who takes the time to fill it out.”
