PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. — Playing golf can be a beautiful and artful sport. Just ask the youth at the child development and the RP Lee Youth centers.

Kids there drew on their experiences on the golf course to create a scene of them and their families having fun playing golf at the new Family Golf Course. The activities were part of an art contest for the March-April issue of “Good Stuff,” the 21st Force Support Squadron bi-monthly newsletter.

The art contest was a way to both celebrate the Month of the Military Child in April and the start of play this year at the new Family Golf Course.

The judging and a reception for participants were held Feb. 7 at the 19th Hole Grill at the Silver Spruce Golf Course.

Youth who participated each received goody bags containing a certificate for a free round of golf for them and their family on the Family Golf Course, Silver Spruce Golf Course insulated lunch/beverage bag, Golf 4 Kids towel, golf tees, ENT backpacks and piggy banks, gift certificates from Dairy Queen and ITZ, stickers, candy and a red balloon.

Prizes included a one-hour golf lesson with video and a beginner set of youth golf clubs.

Judging the art were Col. Chris Crawford, 21st Space Wing commander, Chief Master Sgt. Richard Redman, 21st SW command chief, guest judges including Laura Hyten, Kayreen Crawford and Heather Donnithorne, and representatives from ENT Federal Credit Union.
