Visit your friendly neighborhood pharmacy

From pain killers to blood pressure medication the Schriever Air Force Base pharmacy located in the clinic can fill almost all of your prescription needs. Have you visited them lately?

“Come to the pharmacy and leave with a prescription and a smile,” said Tech. Sgt. Nicholas Xenos, 21st Medical Squadron and Schriever pharmacy NCO in charge. “We want to help everyone we can.”

On any given day, the pharmacy is busy filling nearly 80 prescriptions for Team Schriever members, but Xenos said he hopes to see an increase those numbers soon.

“The facility is here for you, Team Schriever,” he said. “Not only do we want to help but we want to save you time.”

He said most people don’t realize their pharmacy is fully functioning. This means they can do almost anything in terms of prescriptions just like other pharmacies.

Not only are they capable but they are efficient. The average prescription takes 15 to 20 minutes to fill here versus the hour or two an individual could potentially spend at other pharmacies, according to Xenos.

“We’re unique in that we don’t use the same refill location as other bases for our medications,” said Xenos. “This means we can get it quicker.”

Provider order entries, off-base prescriptions, special order referrals and basic refills are just a few of the services they offer to all eligible Department of Defense members.

“If we don’t have it on site, we can typically have it by the next day,” Xenos said.

And instead of getting an automated prompt when you call the pharmacy either Xenos or Capt. Chi Nguyen-Johnson, Schriever pharmacist, will answer the line.

“We even have an uninterrupted schedule,” said Nguyen-Johnson. “We don’t close for lunch.”

Nguyen-Johnson, who runs the pharmacy, said despite their size, they have a lot of potential.

“We’re timely and efficient,” she said. “And we’re practically down the street.”

Xenos said they put a lot of pride in what they do.

“Don’t go elsewhere if you don’t have to,” she said.

The Schriever pharmacy hours of operation are from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
