Top 3 hosts ‘Schriever Debate’

The Top 3 will host “Schriever Debate” 1 — 2:30 p.m. today in the Building 300 auditorium. This event will follow the rules of a professional debate forum. This iteration will pit the Company Grade Officer Council against the 5/6 Council. Some potential topics for debate include: the new blended retirement system, women in combat, the new transgender policy, the effectiveness of the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” maternity leave extension to 12 weeks, the need for warrant officers in the Air Force and Basic Allowance for Subsistence for dorm members. Come out and support this great event.

Updated legal assistance hours

Until further notice, walk-in legal assistance hours are 1 — 3 p.m. every Tuesday. Notary services and powers of attorney are still available on a walk-in basis 8 a.m. — 4 p.m. on duty days. Wills are by appointment 1 — 3 p.m. Wednesdays. Contact the legal office at 567-5050 with any questions or to schedule a will appointment.

Schriever Diversity Day

Please join us at this year’s Diversity Day event 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday at the indoor running track. Enjoy amazing food and a great cultural experience. We will serve adults, but per regulations, are not allowed to physically serve food to children. The event features cultural performances and fun activities for children. Clinic announces closures

The Schriever medical clinic will be closed the following dates/times:

Sept. 2 All day Family Day

Sept. 5 All day Holiday

Sept. 14 2 — 4:30 p.m. Training

Sept. 16 7:30 — 9 a.m. Wing Warfit

Sept. 23 11 a.m. — 1 p.m. Medical Squadron/ Commander’s call

Note: The clinic closes Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. for physical training. Normal clinic hours: 7:30 a.m. — 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. For emergencies, call 911. For appointments, call 524-CARE.

AFPC hosts Spring 2017 VML webinar

Air Force Personnel Center will host a webinar from noon — 1 p.m. Friday in the Building 300 auditorium regarding the Spring 2017 Vulnerable to Move List. This webinar is informative for all 13S space officers; however, it is most relevant for 13S space officers who received the Spring 2017 final VML notification email via AMS Mail Robot on Aug. 10. Col. Toby Doran, 50th Operations Group commander, will be present to give additional insights and answer questions. If unable to attend, the webinar slide deck will be available on the 13S web portal page.

Schriever holds food drive

Schriever Air Force Base, through the Feds Feed Families campaign, is holding a food drive that will contribute to the Care and Share Food Bank. Collections are ongoing until Tuesday at the North and West portals, base fitness center and Building 210 atrium. For more information, contact Capt. Ronnie Sifuentes at 567-5553 or Staff Sgt. Banister’s promotion

The 50th Space Wing Inspector General office is hosting a ceremony in honor of Maj. Rickie Banister’s promotion to lieutenant colonel at 3 p.m. Sept. 1 in the Building 210 atrium. KEEP (Knowledge Enhanced Employee Program) training for civilian supervisors

The Schriever Air Force Base Civilian Personnel Office is offering a class for supervisors of civilian employees from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 28 in Building 210, Room 310. The class will cover topics such as filling positions, disciplinary actions, time/attendance, 971 files and awards.

Register for Green Dot training

Registration is now open for Green Dot overview sessions (to meet the 2016 Sexual Assault Prevention and Response requirement). All personnel can register for an overview session on the FSS SharePoint site. If you initially get a “denied access” error, simply press the request access link in the bottom of the error box and you will receive an email when access is granted. Classes are offered 2 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday, and 9 a.m. every Friday in the Building 300 auditorium. Class sizes are limited to 50 personnel.

Society opens door to
military widows

The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets 10:30 a.m. the last Wednesday of the month at the Peterson Air Force Base club. Call 597-0492 or 591-9523 for more information.

Military Retirees Activities Office holds monthly luncheon

The Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base Club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206. Call 719-556-7153 for more information.

A 9/11 remembrance ceremony will be held 9 a.m. Sept. 11 at the Peterson Air Force Base 9/11 memorial outside Buildings 1, 2 and 3.
