Storytellers

Storytellers is once again coming to Peterson Air Force Base and they’re looking for stories to highlight. This opportunity gives Airmen a chance to share stories of resilience, motivation and professional pride in an environment that allows the audience to connect and learn. Marksheffel Road Construction

El Paso County will continue phased widening of Marksheffel Road between US 24 and Drennan Rd. along with intersection improvements south of Drennan Road through Mesa Ridge Parkway. The road closure between Peterson East and Drennan Rd will remain in effect as crews realign dangerous curves and lay new asphalt. However, this section of the project will remain as a two lane road, the new alignment and surfaces will greatly enhance the safety of this section of the corridor.

German Armed Force Proficiency Badge

The GAFPB is one of the few approved foreign awards that can be worn by U.S. service members. The GAFPB combines the requirements of superior physical fitness and soldiering skills — awardees must excel at both to earn any award. Testing will take place on Fort Carson Sept. 27-29, Oct. 18-20 and Nov. 1-3. Email Retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 David Douglas at gafpb.fcco@gmail.com for more information.

Peterson Community Dinner

The Peterson Chapel hosts the Peterson Community Dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. For more information contact the chapel at 556-4442.

Retiree luncheon

The Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base Club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206. The guest speaker for October 13, 2016 will be Jerry Fortune who will be providing information for surviving spouses. Please call 719-556-7153 for more information.

Society of Military Widows meeting

The Society of Military Widows is open to all military widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouses rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets the last Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. at the Peterson Air Force Base Club. Call 597-0492 or 591-9523 for information.
