PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. — As more technology develops and makes its way into our homes, it’s important to remember to stay active and get outside every once and a while.
To help families get moving and enjoy the sun, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, participated in the Worldwide Day of Play, Sept. 29, 2018, at Patriot Park on base.
“Worldwide Day of Play was a great opportunity for kids and families to get outside and play instead of sitting in front of the TV,” said Ann-Marie Ely, R.P. Lee Youth Center assistant director. “This day gives kids the chance to interact with each other and have a great time with their family and the community.”
Worldwide Day of Play happens once a year, and is put on to encourage kids and families to be active and put away technology for a day.
This year’s event started with an adult 5K run and a 1-mile kids run. It also included bounce houses, obstacle courses, a climbing wall and more, said Ely.
This year’s event also saw hundreds of attendees looking to spend the day with each other to stay active and have fun.
