FORT CARSON, Colo. — Fort Carson Family Homes is one of over 30 communities whose residents have received scholarships for the 2021/2022 academic year.
Fort Carson Family Homes announced that two of its residents, Alex Birkle and Kirby Kearse, have received funding for the 2021/2022 academic year through the Balfour Beatty Communities (BBC) Foundation.
The scholarships will aid Birkle and Kearse in their pursuit of degrees in management and nursing. The annual scholarship program is open to residents throughout the BBC portfolio, including 56 military housing communities throughout the U.S.
The BBC Foundation scholarship program awards academic scholarships to residents living in an owned and managed BBC community who are attending or plan to attend an accredited higher education or technical institution. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on academic achievement, demonstrated leadership skills and a dedication to being a positive influence within the local community.
Since the scholarship program’s inception in 2009, BBC Foundation has awarded over 400 academic scholarships. The foundation is also committed to honoring military service members — active, wounded and fallen — by supporting organizations which assist military personnel and their Families.
