FORT CARSON, Colo. — The Directorate of Public Works (DPW) Environmental Division has temporarily removed Fort Carson’s Haymes Reservoir fishing bag limit until about mid-December. Anglers are encouraged to participate with an unlimited take of fish at Haymes to reduce the loss of fish due to water removal and repairs required this winter.

All Fort Carson reservoirs are open for fishing 24/7 unless signage is posted that a reservoir is closed for military training.

Children 11 and under always fish for free, children ages 12 to 17 need a Fort Carson youth permit to fish and all adults need a Fort Carson fishing permit, unless they are a Soldier fishing at lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is a two-pole limit per fishing permit.

While there is unlimited catch at Haymes Reservoir, those fishing are advised they can’t transport fish from Haymes to other reservoirs or transport fish caught at any other reservoir to Haymes. Failure to follow this guidance may result in a fine from Directorate of Emergency Services Conservation law enforcement officers.

Those fishing are asked to leave the remaining grass carp population in the reservoir as the DPW wildlife staff will net and translocate these fish when the water is lowered.

People recreating on Fort Carson are responsible for reading and understanding Fort Carson 200-6 and the Hold Harmless Agreement, which can be found on the Fort Carson iSportsman website at https://fortcarson.isportsman.net.
